Those of you curious to hear the new Zack de la Rocha-less Rage Against The Machine won't have to wait a whole lot longer. Sony Music have announced the tentative release date of the upcoming yet-to-be-named RATM album — diehard fans can now mark February 26, 2002 on their calendars.

The new album is of particular note because it will be the first Rage album to feature Chris Cornell (ex-Soundgarden) on lead vocals. After Rage's original singer Zack de la Rocha split from the group in October of 2000 there was much speculation over whether the group would continue under the Rage moniker or even continue at all. Outspoken guitarist Tom Morello spent the early part of 2001 denying rumours that Cornell would take over de la Rocha's gig, but nevertheless, the grunge godfather started jamming with the band in March of this year. In May they headed into the studio to record and the results of those sessions will appear on the new album.

The new Rage Against The Machine album will feature the entire original line-up (Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk) save for de la Rocha. Morello calls Cornell "one of the greatest singers and songwriters in history" and describes the new RATM songs as being "groundbreaking, fantastic and so exciting." Well, if he doesn't say so himself!

Hummmmmm.........gooooooooooood!

Have a nice day!
